1. Multi-station welding operations can generate welding fume and fine airborne particulate, especially when several welding stations operate simultaneously.
2. Effective source capture and centralized fume extraction can help reduce airborne contamination and improve the working environment.
3. Each welding station can be equipped with a suitable extraction arm or local capture hood and connected through branch ducts to a centralized main duct.
4. Where welding processes generate significant sparks, suitable spark control or pre-separation measures can be considered according to the process, spark load and system risk assessment.
5. The main duct can be connected to a centralized cartridge dust collector to maintain negative-pressure extraction and filter the collected welding fume and particulate.
6. Where a higher level of final filtration is required, a HEPA filter stage can be added according to the application and required emission level. Actual outlet concentration depends on the filter configuration, operating conditions and applicable emission
requirements.
7. Downflow or vertical cartridge dust collectors can be selected for centralized welding fume collection according to the required airflow, fume load, installation conditions and filtration requirements.
